What has Little Bug done to us?!

Along came Little Bug...who knew she came with so much dirty laundry. I just did the laundry three days ago! We use to be able to go two weeks. How can such a little person go through so many burp cloths, sheets, and cloths?! I really want to know.

Splash Splish

Here's Little Bug breaking in her first swimsuit! She's about to grow out of it so we resorted to using it for bath time. Andrew thinks she's gonna be a great butterflyer and he can't wait to get her into a real pool. He also promises her that she gets to drive the boat when we go water skiing in Utah this summer.

Productivity shot

When I woke up this morning I had so many hopes and dreams. As in, I was ready to tackle the apartment with a good scrub, hit up the grocery store to restock our empty cupboards, take care of the massive amounts of laundry(by the way, I can't even count how many loads of laundry that I have to do a week), walk around Lake Merrit, meet with my adviser for school, and try a new recipe for dinner.

Now, let's go over what I actually did today...I met with my supervisor. Wow, that was a pretty short list. In fact, the only reason I was even able to do meet with her is because I had a scheduled appointment. However, Little Bug was fed, bathed, changed, and showered with hugs, coos, and kisses all day long. And to top it all off she finally gave me a real genuine laugh! For some reason our five o'clock diaper change was like the best thing that has ever happened to her. If only all diaper changes are that monumental for her!

Why Mom? Why?

I read in a book you're suppose to give your baby 15-20 minutes of tummy time a day. Are you serious Clark?! (Thanks Brian for our favorite phrase.) It takes Little Bug all of 5 seconds to realize her tummy is not where she wants to be. Notice the strategically placed toys to try and make tummy time fun time. She's not falling for it.

I'm comin' out

Little Bug had her baby blessing yesterday and she got all dolled up for the big event! Years ago while on a study abroad program, I bought a beautiful lace blessing dress, or so I thought. To my horror, while looking at the "dress" with my mother, we discovered it was actually a blessing overcoat! No wonder it was cheaper than all the other dresses! So, my mother sewed her a dress to go underneath by making her own hand stitched lace! I can't even make a blanket by the way. In addition, my mother-in-law made the most adorable little booties, which are going to have to be put in a 3-D frame cause they're just that cute. Overall it was a wonderful day spent in the company of family. Below are some pics from the event.

As for other news, Little Bug had her two month old check up today, which translates into getting shots. She was not too pleased about it. She instantly went from all smiles to absolute horror, shock, and pain. The only cute thing about it was, when I was allowed to come to her rescue she immediately stopped crying... for about 30 seconds. She then proceeded to tell me in her own way what had happened to her and how she felt about it. Boy did I get a mouthful! And for anyone curious, she now weighs just about 11 pounds and is 23 inches long (50th percentile for both weight and height, and 67th percentile for head size).

Seriously?

Although I don't have a picture to post with this blog entry, I do think it is entertaining enough to write about.

It can be no surprise to anyone that I am trying to loose all of my baby weight. As a side note to this story, I can now fit into two pairs of my pre-pregnancy pants! Would I actually wear them out, no. They are far too tight, but at least they manage to fit over my thighs and newly formed voluptuous hips, aka really wide hips. But, to continue on with point one of this entry. Since I am trying to loose some weight, Andrew has decided to join my cause and loose some weight for himself too. He has started off by asking me to pack him smaller lunches. So, as of late I have been packing him modest lunches. 'Modest' in this case means he is still getting plenty of food. However, just the other night, as I was packing him his lunch, he stated with concern and fear of being starved, "You know, my lunches have been a lot smaller lately."

Now for point two of the entry. As Andrew was preparing for work the other morning, he popped out of the shower and said, "You know, I'm mad at Aladdin. I mean, he was a young and healthy guy who could have found himself a job." Then he started bitterly mumbling the lyrics from One Jump Ahead, "Gotta eat to live, gotta steal to eat" For those of you confused, yes, Andrew is referring to the character Aladdin from the Disney movie Aladdin. I actually had to clarify that with him myself, seeing how we don't own the movie Aladdin, nor have we watched it together, or even slightly mentioned it during the entire course of our relationship.

Maybe I'm the only one who finds these two moments funny or maybe you have to know Andrew to truly see there entertaining value, but regardless I was highly amused.

At the end of the day

The other night, when I hadn't heard noise coming from the bedroom in a while, I popped my head in and discovered such a sight. I guess it was a hard days work!

Update

Well, we just got back from Little Bug's one month appointment. We're excited to share that we have an average child! She was 50th percentile for weight and height, and 75th percentile for head size (I'm hoping that means she inherited Andrew's geniusness). The appointment was all fun and games to her until the doctor needed to check out her mouth. That of course meant sticking one of those extra large popsicle wood things in her mouth to hold her tongue down. She was not a fan. We will just have to see how she handles getting her shots!

Now onto a question. Little Bug for the life of her can not sleep during the day! She sleeps a 6-8 hour block at night and then goes down for another 2-3 hours, but by day she won't go down. That is unless I'm holding her or she's in the car. She doesn't even like the swing! I didn't even know it was possible for a baby not to like the swing! I swear kids at this age are suppose to have a solid morning and afternoon nap, right? Well, I'm taking all tips on this subject because my productivity as of late has been severely compromised. I guess I should just be grateful that at least I'm well rested to handle such a task!

Smile!

We've been taking pictures like crazy of Little Bug, but here are some shots from her first real photo shoot! Thanks Marielle!

It's a small world!

Last Tuesday Little Bug left her comfortable little world and braved grand adventure as we headed off to Disneyland to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary. My Dad was quite the organizer and managed to get all his kids down to LA without my Mom knowing. Too bad he spilled the beans before we could all surprise her.

On this trip, Andrew and I learned two very important things. 1) Traveling will never be the same now that Little Bug is around. Check out the photo to see what I mean...and keep in mind we were only gone for 3 1/2 days. 2) Somewhere in the last year we have become boring adults. Case in point, we fell asleep on New Year's Eve at 9:30PM. We could not hack it till 12AM.

Honestly, I swear we didn't over pack. That's just how much stuff we needed!

We forgot to take a picture of us inside the gate. So here's one on the outside...at least we remembered to do that!

We managed to all fit on one boat for, 'It's a small world after all.' Which by the way, during the holiday season is a much better ride. Instead of repeating the same song over and over again, they mix in some Christmas carols.
