Who's the boss?

Andrew and I were under the impression that we were in charge around here. This took a drastic turn when Little Bug decided to start teething. Since, she has let us know, usually in the form of unstoppable tears and wailing, that she is really the one in charge. I'm really hoping some teeth pop out soon! As of late, she spends most days like this.

or like this...unwilling to release that pacifier! Don't even try to pull it out!

Thanks Grandma D.

Little Bug loves her new spring dress!

Story time

We have come to find out that Little Bug likes to read. She especially likes this fabric elephant shaped book. She actually looks like she's following along. Andrew even asked her to help flip the page and as evidenced by the blurry photo she dutifully tried.

Little Bug is also learning how to grab and purposely hit toys. The other day I watched her hit this one dangling toy over and over again...However, I think I was more entertained than she was. Really, it had me captivated for a solid 30 minutes.

When will it end?!

I really just have one question here. Ok, maybe it's a borderline concern. When will my hair stop falling out?! And I really mean falling out! I know I know, I just had a baby and it was mentioned to me such a thing might happen. However, I don't think I was prepared for this! I'd take a picture of the shower drain for you all to prove my point, but I don't think you want to see such a sight.

We caught you

A friend of mine, Marie Johnson, was so sweet and offered to take pictures of Little Bug. Of course I said yes! What mom could resist such an offer?! I love that I finally have pics of her smile! Our camera is just a tad bit slow, ok a lot slow. All our attempts at capturing her smile were big fuzzy blurs.

For other news, Little Bug has decided rolling onto her side is pretty fun and has also come to the conclusion that her parents are not as interesting as first thought. We're adusting. We get a quick good morning smile and then she's all bright eyed for everything else in the room. It's tuff loosing out to a white wall.

What has Little Bug done to us?!

Along came Little Bug...who knew she came with so much dirty laundry. I just did the laundry three days ago! We use to be able to go two weeks. How can such a little person go through so many burp cloths, sheets, and cloths?! I really want to know.

Splash Splish

Here's Little Bug breaking in her first swimsuit! She's about to grow out of it so we resorted to using it for bath time. Andrew thinks she's gonna be a great butterflyer and he can't wait to get her into a real pool. He also promises her that she gets to drive the boat when we go water skiing in Utah this summer.

Productivity shot

When I woke up this morning I had so many hopes and dreams. As in, I was ready to tackle the apartment with a good scrub, hit up the grocery store to restock our empty cupboards, take care of the massive amounts of laundry(by the way, I can't even count how many loads of laundry that I have to do a week), walk around Lake Merrit, meet with my adviser for school, and try a new recipe for dinner.

Now, let's go over what I actually did today...I met with my supervisor. Wow, that was a pretty short list. In fact, the only reason I was even able to do meet with her is because I had a scheduled appointment. However, Little Bug was fed, bathed, changed, and showered with hugs, coos, and kisses all day long. And to top it all off she finally gave me a real genuine laugh! For some reason our five o'clock diaper change was like the best thing that has ever happened to her. If only all diaper changes are that monumental for her!

Why Mom? Why?

I read in a book you're suppose to give your baby 15-20 minutes of tummy time a day. Are you serious Clark?! (Thanks Brian for our favorite phrase.) It takes Little Bug all of 5 seconds to realize her tummy is not where she wants to be. Notice the strategically placed toys to try and make tummy time fun time. She's not falling for it.

I'm comin' out

Little Bug had her baby blessing yesterday and she got all dolled up for the big event! Years ago while on a study abroad program, I bought a beautiful lace blessing dress, or so I thought. To my horror, while looking at the "dress" with my mother, we discovered it was actually a blessing overcoat! No wonder it was cheaper than all the other dresses! So, my mother sewed her a dress to go underneath by making her own hand stitched lace! I can't even make a blanket by the way. In addition, my mother-in-law made the most adorable little booties, which are going to have to be put in a 3-D frame cause they're just that cute. Overall it was a wonderful day spent in the company of family. Below are some pics from the event.

As for other news, Little Bug had her two month old check up today, which translates into getting shots. She was not too pleased about it. She instantly went from all smiles to absolute horror, shock, and pain. The only cute thing about it was, when I was allowed to come to her rescue she immediately stopped crying... for about 30 seconds. She then proceeded to tell me in her own way what had happened to her and how she felt about it. Boy did I get a mouthful! And for anyone curious, she now weighs just about 11 pounds and is 23 inches long (50th percentile for both weight and height, and 67th percentile for head size).
