Da Hood?

Previously on the Duffin Blog, Melissa told everyone about how she has taken up crocheting. She also mentioned the fact that she purchased a book with 100 hat patterns. What she failed to mention was this hat.

A hood for da hood???? Are you serious? I've been taking the bus through downtown Oakland for over a year now and I have never seen such a creation. I found out that the designer, back in 1964, made some lesson plans and books for an inner city knitting program in Chicago. I seriously doubt she actually visited any of those inner city schools. If she had, I don't think she would have tried to market this hat for 'da hood.' We were both amused.

Really?

I just want to state that it is just past noon and I have already gone through four shirts while Little Bug has managed to go through a whopping six. And just so you know, I really don't mind if there's a little spot or two on a shirt...it has to be major to merit an actual clothes change. As you can tell, we're having a blast today!

One, two, three strikes you're out!

Little Bug attended her first baseball game Monday night and loved it! Well, she actually slept for the majority of it and only woke up to contribute to some cheering that was going on. Nonetheless, it was a good introduction. Once we had her all dressed for the occasion, we better understood why she is sometimes mistaken for a boy....check out photo number three. The best was when she was wearing a brown and pink dress with a bow and someone asked if she was a boy or girl, ummm....

First creation

Andrew's Mom taught me how to crochet a couple weeks ago and this is my first creation! I just kinda made something up and had a lot of fun doing it. I have yet to try following a pattern, and I am quite nervous to do so, but I just couldn't help myself from buying this book I found with 100 hat patterns. (I know,I know, who needs 100 hat patterns.) I'm sure I will be calling my mother-in-law for some support on that one. ...if anyone wants a hat individualized with charming character mistakes:), let me know!

Rice n'roll

We tried Little Bug on some rice cereal. It went...pretty well. She did seem to enjoy it, but as you can see from this picture, the spoon is a pretty hard tool to master.



Also, Little Bug started to roll over! Now, for most of you this is probably not a very exciting clip, but for those die hard Little Bug fans here it is!

Baby pattern balding

So, some of you may be wondering what is in this picture, OK all of you. This is the corner of Little Bug's bassinet. You see, Little Bug is particularly bald and she is getting balder. Those two brown circular spots are the remnants of her hair. It does not matter where we place her in the bassinet, she always manages to worm her way up to the top left hand corner. With all her side to side head movements she has rubbed off all her hair! Luckily, she has started regrowing some replacement peach fuzz for us.

Who's the boss?

Andrew and I were under the impression that we were in charge around here. This took a drastic turn when Little Bug decided to start teething. Since, she has let us know, usually in the form of unstoppable tears and wailing, that she is really the one in charge. I'm really hoping some teeth pop out soon! As of late, she spends most days like this.

or like this...unwilling to release that pacifier! Don't even try to pull it out!

Little Bug loves her new spring dress!

Story time

We have come to find out that Little Bug likes to read. She especially likes this fabric elephant shaped book. She actually looks like she's following along. Andrew even asked her to help flip the page and as evidenced by the blurry photo she dutifully tried.

Little Bug is also learning how to grab and purposely hit toys. The other day I watched her hit this one dangling toy over and over again...However, I think I was more entertained than she was. Really, it had me captivated for a solid 30 minutes.

When will it end?!

I really just have one question here. Ok, maybe it's a borderline concern. When will my hair stop falling out?! And I really mean falling out! I know I know, I just had a baby and it was mentioned to me such a thing might happen. However, I don't think I was prepared for this! I'd take a picture of the shower drain for you all to prove my point, but I don't think you want to see such a sight.
